Bates made AYP in all areas this year! Woohoo and congrats to the teachers and administrators who worked so hard to achieve this important goal. Thanks also go out to the parents and community members who volunteered and mentored in-classroom to make a difference in students' academic achievement.
Test scores across the county are rising overall and in important subgroups (African-American, Hispanic, Limited English Proficient and Special Ed), but as the bar to meet AYP keeps rising every year, more schools are struggling to meet the AYP targets in all subgroups.
The details for 2011 are not yet posted on mdreportcard.org, but in the Press Release attached, Bates is lauded for its 14.1 point increase in 7th grade Reading.
