Boating Program Info + Boatyard Fundraiser recap

Wanted to add an "editor's note" to the following email from Lorie Stout on the Boating program that starts TOMORROW (and yes, there are few spots left, so it's not too late to join!).  The Boatyard Bash was a huge success and one we hope will become an annual event that we all look forward to.  Thanks so much to WRNR's Alex Cortwright for emceeing, the Boatyard for hosting as well as donating prizes, the band and a percentage, Ginger Vance for organizing, and for all who came out to have a fun night out for a good cause.  We exceeded the fundraising goal (largely because the 50/50 winner, the Applegates, donated back their winnings!), so we will have a nice "nest egg" build the budget for a M/W program next year that can accommodate PVA schedules.  Special thanks also to prize donors such West Marine, APS, Art Things, Snapper Rock, Zachary's, Casa Nova, Maria's Picture Place, Annapolis Kayak & Canoe, Timex and many more!

Hi, Bates Boaters -

Tomorrow we start the Boating at Bates program after school.  In preparation for the program we will have an orientation day tomorrow from 3-4:30.  The students will be given the Boater Education course book, we will walk to the Amos Garrett Dock which is where our water access is.  Life jackets will be sized and we will discuss the fun journey's that we will be taking for the next 8 weeks.

On Thursday all or some of the students will be going on the water.  We will discuss the proper clothing that they will want on Tuesday, but be prepared that they will want some dry warm clothes each day we go on the water.

There is still some room in the class, I believe 5-6 positions.  If your student has a friend who hasn't signed up and wants to, have them contact me:  Lorie@StoutGear.com
