Start School Later initiative needs your help!
Start School Later is an initiative to move back the current 7:17 am start time at Anne Arundel County High Schools. Annapolis High School parent Kari Oakes and AHS/Bates Middle School parent Heather Macintosh have been working hard to move the Start School Later initiative forward. Heather as well as Jeff Macris, from the Annapolis Education Commission, attended the December 10th PTA meeting, in order to present the initiative again and weigh the level of parental support toward encouraging the AACPS School Board to study the issue.
With recent successes at Montgomery County and positive press from the Washington Post, they are asking that you sign and forward this petition to your friends and neighbors in the county. Evidence clearly indicates, it is in the best interests of our HS students' attendance, academic achievement, "achievement gap" and health to move the start times back.
