PTA Fall Fundraiser-Otis Spunkmeyer-Starts!

Hello Bates Families,

The annual PTA Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Fundraiser has started!!  Your student will bring home the Otis order form packet today. Extra Otis order forms are available in the Bates office at the front desk for big sellers who need more order forms!

Sale Time Period:  Sept 18 until Oct 3rd.  Envelopes with order forms and money are due on Oct 3rd.  The product delivery date is in mid-November.

Order Forms:  Ask friends and family for Otis orders and collect the money from them.  Submit the order forms and money in the envelope enclosed in the packet on Oct 3rd.  The Otis products will be delivered in mid-November.  Please have your friends and family give you cash or a check made out to Bates MS PTA.

What are We Selling and How Much?  We are selling tubs of 36 frozen Otis cookies, Brownies, Danish Twists or Auntie Anne's Pretzels.  Each reusable tub of Otis Cookies, Brownies, Danish Twists and Auntie Anne's Pretzels costs $16.

Online Option:  To shop online for other Gift Items and still benefit our PTA fundraiser, visit www.cherrydale.com, click "Go Shopping" and enter your student's information and school name.

Bates has always had a high percentage of student involvement in this fundraiser.  This year, we are striving for the same great participation!  Last year, this fundraiser netted about $12,000 which helps the PTA off to a solid start to the school year.  Selling 7 tubs of cookies, danish twists or pretzels is the goal we set for each student to receive a ticket to the Big Blast Party, but we are thrilled for any sales your student can make.

This Fundraiser supports the PTA budget which funds the 8th Grade Gettysburg Trip, Field Day, the Music Department trip to Hershey Park, Honor Roll Parties among other great events, departments and school clubs.

Again, orders forms and money envelopes due to homeroom teachers on October 3rd. Please be sure your student completes the information  (name, address, phone numbers, grade, email,  etc.) on the order form and includes the checks for the orders. If we have questions about an order, this information allows us to contact you.

Thank you for supporting our school.

Please contact us (Deirdre Ralph, ralphjd@verizon.net or Elizabeth Taylor at ebtaylor15@gmail.com)  if you can volunteer to help when the order forms and money come in during the week of Oct 3rd or for the Otis delivery in November.

Mids4Kids Drivers Needed and Update to Uniform Collection

Update to Uniform Collection:

Please bring your unused uniforms to Back to School Night this Thursday, Sept 12 at 6:30 pm.  We will take uniforms (pants, skirts, shorts, belts, logo and non-logo shirts) that are no longer usable at Bates due to the new uniform policy or your child has outgrown.  WE WILL TAKE BATES LOGO SHIRTS.  We plan to use these items in our own Uniform Closet OR take them to Annapolis Cluster schools that have expressed a need to us.  We will have a bin by the PTA table on Thursday night.

Mids4Kids

The Mids4Kids program brings midshipmen volunteers into schools throughout the area to help students during school hours.  This program is very popular here and makes a real difference to the Bates students.  In order for the Mids4Kids program to be successful, we need volunteer drivers to assist with transportation from the USNA to and from Bates.

We need at least 16 drivers for this semester.

Please consider being a volunteer driver.  This is a very easy way to donate just 20 – 30 minutes of your time once per week all while meeting some very great college students from the Naval Academy.   If you are interested but unsure if you can make a weekly commitment, we also need back-up drivers for standby duty.  If you would like to volunteer to be a Mids for Kids driver, please contact Becky Porzillo at bporzillo@gmail.com or by phone at 410-320-3598.
