Duties of the Annapolis Education Commission The purpose of the Education Commission shall be to make recommendations to the Anne Arundel County Board of Education and the Superintendent and to the State Boards of Education concerning the Annapolis School feeder system, serve as the primary liaison between City and the County Board of Education and elected officials, and work with other governmental, private, and non-governmental organizations to obtain educational opportunities, resources and facilities for the citizens of Annapolis. Meetings of the Annapolis Education Commission Meetings of the commission shall be open to the general public, who shall have the opportunity to speak at every meeting.  Meetings will take place the first Monday of the month, 5:30 p.m. at rotating locations.  I.  Call to Order 5:30pm  -  Trish Irvin, Chair II.  Welcome and Introductions III.  Approval of minutes  -  Heather MacIntosh, Recording Secretary      a.  September 9th, 2013 meeting  IV.  Reports/Speaker       a.  Review of The Phoenix Academy, Principal John Thompson       b.  Examples of Community Partnerships/Resource Center – Loise  Novachadlo – Centro de Ayuda V.  Old Business       a.  Discussion and vote on priority items for 2013-2014. VI.  New Business      a.  Public testimony for items not on the agenda or not previously  discussed. VII.  Next Meeting a.      November 4th, 5:30-7pm VIII.  Adjournment 7pm There will be an executive session of the commission’s members immediately following the meeting.
