Start High School Later - Do you agree? Come at 7pm to Riva Rd Bd of Ed - Wed, Nov 20th

Dear Bates Middle School Community:

Start High School Later than 8 am rather than at 7:17 am.  Do you agree?  If so, come to the Board of Education on Riva Road on Wed, Nov 20th wearing black to show your support.  Black is the color of the sky when your student heads to the bus.

  • Start School Later Initiative asking for support at Nov 20th's BOE Meeting:  If you agree that the early High School start times are harming kids physically, mentally, and academically, please come to the Parham Building on Riva Road at 7pm wearing black!  A number of speakers are lined up, but it is packing a room that really counts, to deliver the message to the Board that "We’ve presented the science, you’ve studied it, your CAC has recommended action for over a decade. We, the community,  want you to come up with a plan for implementation of an 8:00 a.m. minimum start time for all Anne Arundel County Students for 2014 school year. No child should have to be on the bus before 7:00 a.m."  For more information, or if you'd like to speak, contact AHS parent, Heather Macintosh:  Heather@StartSchoolLater.net

Thanks, Deirdre
