New This Week at Bates

A few notes for the Bates Community this week:
  1. Fitness Club/After School Recess:  We are testing an idea this Thursday after school from 3:00-3:30 to have kids go down to the track behind the school to walk/run the track and/or play pick up games in the center.  This initiative is the culmination of ideas from the Wellness Cmte, PVA parents, and the availability of Mids to help supervise.  If all goes well, we will continue this every Thursday (weather permitting) and hope to expand it to Tuesdays if we can find additional adult supervision.
  2. Otis Party:  Hopefully you saw the note from CC and Sarah last night re: the volunteers needed for the Otis reward party from 1-3.  The kids love this party and it is a great way to see your kids social life in action!
  3. Otis Tubs:  Please send in any empty Otis tubs to the Art Department!  Apparently they will come in handy for the mosaic and other projects as they are the perfect size for grout and other paints.
  4. Annapolis Education Commission: Please join us for our next Annapolis Education Commission meeting,  Monday, 1 November  5:30 – 7:00 pm (please note new time, due to a room scheduling conflict), in the City Council chambers, 160 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis MD 21401. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Alex Szachnowicz, the Chief Operating Officer of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Mr. Szachnowicz is directly involved with the school system’s capital budget.
Also, please make sure you have our next PTA Meeting on your schedule (November 8th)!
