Congratulations to Ms. Laura Pinto, Social Studies Dept Chair, for winning a Lowe’s Education Grant for an Agora Outdoor Classroom! Amount awarded: $4,640.00. The funds will be used to construct an "Agora" - from the Greek concept of an outdoor classroom/marketplace for the exchange of ideas. This project will also contribute to our quest to become a Green School.
The Agora will be constructed in the area between the main school and the Arts Annex - an area badly in need of improvement! The students will be involved with the design and completion of the Agora, but Ms. Pinto is looking for a Landscape Architect that might be able to help this concept become a reality.
We are lucky to have dedicated and talented teachers like Ms. Pinto at Bates and great community partners such as Lowe's!
