This post is for the PVA parents...
First, a few tidbits of news... The PVA this year will have almost 300 students at Bates! The number of students and the complexity of logistics for Saturdays and Extended Days enabled a late approval for the Bates PVA Program to have hired a PVA Events Coordinator who will be coming on board in the next few weeks. Parent input was a key impetus for this addition to improve the quality of the PVA Plus sessions as well as to free the PVA Teachers to focus on curriculum.
PVA Extended Days will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays again this year starting Sept 6th.
The Saturdays are still a bit in flux, but please plan on Saturday Sept 17th. There is a possibility that a few of the disciplines may have their Saturday moved to Sept 24th. Lori Snyder hopes to have that, as well as the Saturdays for the rest of the calendar year nailed down by next week. Note that due to numbers and also to be better able to customize the Saturday experience, the Saturdays may be split in any given month. The current printable schedule is available on the PVA Website's Saturday in the Arts section. I will also post them on the PTA Website under the PVA Calendar link.
Finally, we would like to have more parent volunteers for the Arts disciplines this year. Ms. Shea is forming a Dance Board that will meet for the first time before Back To School night at 6pm. Mr. Puckett is also asking for parent volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help with a specific discipline, please email Heidi Petras who will again be our PVA Parent Coordinator.
