Who knew getting kids back to school would be such a seismic activity??? :)
A couple of dates to make sure you have on your calendar (and I apologize for some repetitiveness this time of year... we are continually adding new people to the parent lists)
Sept 8th - 7pm: Back to School Night
Sept 12th - 6:30pm: First General PTA Meeting
Sept 22nd - 8:30am: Coffee with the Principal
Also, we have some targeted requests...
First, parent Barb Dove is organizing the clothing and supplies drive this year. Please send to the front office any new or gently used uniform clothing, including school appropriate shoes, belts, and backpacks that your children may have outgrown or no longer use. As the economy has continued to be weak, we have more kids than ever in need. A "uniform store" is being set up from which kids can "buy" items with their Bates Bucks. If you are in need of school items, please contact your child's counselor.
Second, the Media Center/Library is looking for a few items: a full sized vacuum cleaner, Barnes & Noble gift cards, any books appropriate for elementary or middle school ages (for "free book" area), and hand sanitizer. Ms. Hutchison is also looking for any ideas on getting fun, bound area carpets. Please contact her directly: rhutchison@aacps.org.
