Read Across America at Bates!

If you haven’t heard already, we are celebrating Read Across America here at Bates Middle School. Students have been given reading logs and “golden tickets” to earn prizes for reading. The Read Across Maryland reading log challenges students to read every day in the month of March for a chance to win and Kindle Fire or Barnes & Noble gift card. These prizes are handed out at the state level. Ms. Sporre, the school librarian, will collect the reading logs in early April and submit them for our students.

We are also very excited to introduce students to our Read Across Bates incentive. Students were provided a pack of 30-minute golden tickets. Similar to Tricky Trays, students earn chances to win prizes every time they read 30 minutes. The more a student reads, the more chances they have of winning one of our many prizes (Barnes & Noble gift card, movie tickets, athletic equipment, fashion accessories, etc.). Students can come to the library any time to drop thier golden tickets into the prize buckets. Extra golden tickets and reading logs can be found in the library. Prizes will be announced on April 1st!

THANKS!
